The main tasks of the Center are as follows:
To organize seismological and seismometric observations in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in transboundary areas, as well as in regions with high natural and technological hazards;
To carry out comprehensive prognostic monitoring within the Republic, collect and transmit data, and perform their preliminary analysis;
To gradually implement and improve the national early warning system for strong earthquakes in the Republic.

Based on the tasks assigned to the Center, it performs the following functions:

Organizes seismological and seismometric observations in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, transboundary areas, as well as regions with high natural and technological hazards:

Organizes seismological monitoring within the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan and ensures the continuous operation of seismic stations;

Constantly evaluates and improves the efficiency of the seismic observation network and stations;

Conducts seismic hazard monitoring in the Republic's natural and technological hazard zones and at important facilities through seismological observations;

Carries out seismological and seismometric observations at reservoirs located in seismically active zones;

Monitors the state of crustal stress and deformation, as well as technogenic earthquakes, at oil, gas, and solid mineral deposits within the Republic;

Collects, processes seismometric observation data, and creates a data database;

Performs preliminary analysis of the seismic situation in the Republic based on the processed data.
